If you’re a regular reader of Cool Cleveland, it’s no surprise to you that we have a thing for Akron’s Shivering Timbers. The husband & wife-fronted band plays a spirited American roots music that’s a little bit country, a little bit rock ’n roll — and a little bit blues and a little bit jazz too.
Tall, striking Sarah Benn smacks up her giant standup bass while her devilishly angelic vocals send chills up your spine. Her husband Jayson Benn provides harmonies and steadfast guitar, while drummer Daniel Kshywonis provides the propulsive bottom.
Their last album Sing Sing came out in 2012, but a new EP is finished and on the way. We can hardly wait! In the meantime, they’re playing at the Music Box Supper Club where they’ll do two sets: one of their own music and one of their own mellow arrangements of some favorite supper club-type cover tunes.
Admission is $7 which includes a specialty cocktail.
