Outdoor Fun at First Annual Frozen Fest @GeaugaParks

FrozenFest

Sun 2/1 @noon-4PM

For some of us, our favorite winter activities involve fireplaces, hot drinks, blankets and maybe a couple of dogs and cats curled up next to us.

For others, a brisk winter day outdoors is an eagerly anticipated fun time.

For the latter, the Geauga Park District — in the heart of Ohio’s snowbelt! — is debuting its first-ever family-oriented Frozen Fest at the West Woods Nature Center. Some wit in the park district’s communications department writes that they are “going above and beyond to make sure it’s the best Frozen Fest we’ve ever had.”

Frozen Fest will actually have both indoor and outdoor activities, so even the cold-averse can have fun alongside their hardier peers.

Outdoor activities include an ice sculpture demo and display, a snowball shooting gallery, opportunities to feed birds and meet sled dogs, and snowshoe rentals.

Inside the nature center there’ll be puppet shows, crafts, face painting, a photo booth, free refreshments, appearances by “ice princesses,” harp music, an exhibit called Return to the Ice Age with real ice-age bones dug up in Geauga County, and free snowman ice scrapers for the adults to remind them that winter still isn’t all fun and games.

It’s free and no reservations are required.
