Got an instrument you’re itching to get out of its case and play? There are a couple of jam sessions in the area tonight for different musical proclivities.
For those on the jam band wavelength, there’s the Northeast Ohio Drum & Music Jam at the Beachland Ballroom. It’s heavy on drummers and percussionists, but other instruments are welcome too. And some people come just to dance to the music. It starts at 9 but the real action tends to pick up a little later. It’s free.
If jazz is your thing, head down to Blu Jazz Akron for its monthly jam session, which attracts some of the area’s best professional players. But if you’re new to the game and just trying to get the feel for what it’s like to play with top-level cats, you’re welcome too. It starts at 8pm and it’s free to participate. Tickets to listen are $8 amd most likely very worth it considering the caliber of player you’re likely to hear.
