ChamberFest Cleveland, the multi-day, multi-venue festival of small-group classical music performances founded by soon-to-retire Cleveland Orchestra principal clarinetist Franklin Cohen (pictured) and his violinist daughter Diana, will celebrate its fourth year later this year.

In the meantime, it’s kept up public awareness with bimonthly showcases at the Wine Spot in Cleveland Heights. They’re kicking off the year with “ChamberFest Uncorked” which will feature Franklin Cohen, along with rising violin star Jinjoo Cho, marimba player Scott Christian of the West Virginia Symphony and principal flutist of the Cleveland Pops Orchestra Mary Kay Robinson.

They’ll get to cut loose a little, performing an adventurous program that includes Nikola Resanovich’s Trio for Clarinet, Violin and Marimba; And the Legions Will Rise for Violin, Clarinet and Marimba by Kevin Puts; Irish Spirit for Clarinet and Marimba by Bill Douglas; and Kembang Suling for Flute and Marimba by Gareth Farr.

It’s a great opportunity to hear some of the area’s outstanding musicians in a low-key environment while enjoying a glass of wine or craft beer.

And it’s free.
