Charlie Mosbrook, who has been a mover and shaker in the local folk scene for 25 years, has some health issues that limit his mobility. But that hasn’t put a crimp in his musical activities. He’s been touring more than ever, he was recently elected president of the newly revived local acoustic music nonprofit Folknet, and now he’s putting out a new album, a follow-up to 2013’s Something to Believe.

The new album A Long Time Gone features performances from an array of the area’s talented musicians including David Krauss (ex-Tiny Alice), Xela, Rachel Brown of the Beatnik Playboys, Bill Lestock, Jon Mosey and many more, as well as the songwriting of fellow acoustic singer/songwriter Avin Loki Baird.

And when he celebrates the release of the album at the Barking Spider, he expects most of those players will show up for what’s bound to be a tremendous showcase of local acoustic talent. Baird performs at 10 following Mosbrook’s set so you can probably count on her giving Mosbrook a hand too.

There’s no cover; the Spider passes the hat for the musicians.
