When you’ve found a winning formula, why change it? That’s the general idea behind most arts organizations’ holiday programming, where we see Nutcrackers and A Christmas Carols into infinity.

Quire Cleveland’s holiday program, Carols for Quire, may not be THAT much of a familiar chestnut. But this year’s presentation of French baroque composer Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s Messe de Minuit pour Noël, based on traditional French carols, is its sixth annual rendering of the program. It combines mass music performed by an ensemble of top-flight local players with a cappella carol arrangements.

They’ll perform it three times in the appropriate setting of three different lovely area churches: on Friday at Trinity Cathedral downtown, at St. Mary Queen of Peace in Old Brooklyn on Saturday and back downtown Sunday at St. Peter Church.

Tickets are $20-$30.
