For the sixth straight year, the heavy metal community came together at the Beachland Ballroom for the Heavy Metal Holiday Food Drive, benefiting the Cleveland Foodbank, the Lake County APL and Friends of the Cleveland Kennel. The concert was sponsored by Bill Peters’ local heavy metal label Auburn Records, John Carroll University radio station WHCU 88.7FM and Iron Ingo Stuhrenberg, a dedicated fan of Cleveland heavy metal who flies over from Germany to host the event each year.
This year’s attendance, food collection and money raised from donations and the raffle (the show itself was free) broke all records, with 700 people through the door throughout the 8-hour, 14-band show.
