The Cleveland Jazz Orchestra’s traditional holiday concerts — its Saturday evening Not So Silent Night concert and its Sunday family Jungle Bell Jazz matinee will take on some much-loved modern pop holiday music.
In “A Not So Silent Night Goes (Pea)Nuts and “Jungle Bell Jazz Goes (Pea)Nuts,” the big-band ensemble, led by its music director, trumpeter Sean Jones, will riff on the Vince Guaraldi Trio’s music from the 1965 classic A Charlie Brown Christmas, as well as other holiday favorites from cartoons and movies. The shorter Sunday afternoon version will also feature an interactive musical instrument “petting zoo,” were kids can learn about the instruments they saw being played onstage.
Both shows take place at PlayhouseSquare’s Hanna Theatre. Tickets for Saturday evening are $25-$50; Sunday tickets are $10.
