The annual Cleveland Heavy Metal Food Drive, sponsored by Auburn Records, John Carroll University radio station WJCU 88.7 FM and Iron Ingo Stuhrenberg, Germany’s biggest fan of Cleveland heavy metal, has become a holiday tradition, going into its 6th year.

It’s an opportunity for local headbangers to take the temperature of the local metal scene, with a monster lineup of legendary veteran bands, newcomers and hard-working mainstays of the scene, while doing some good for needy people and pets.

Fourteen bands will keep things rocking all nigtt in both the Beachland Ballroom and Tavern. They include Shok Paris, a cornerstone of Auburn’s ’80s roster, reliable area heavy music makers like the Suede Brothers, Venomin James, Wretch and Deadiron (pictured above), and newer bands like Strong Arm Tactics and Mythrias. And you can check out Olathia(pictured below), the new band featuring vocalist Chris Emig from Cellbound, Cleveland’s towering heavy metal princess. The roster also includes Midnight, Black Death Resurrected, Sunless Sky, Vulgar Devils, JJ Grim, and Judas Priest tribute Painkiller.
