Local Goth Band Lestat Says Farewell @ClevelandAgora Show

Lestat

Sat 11/22 @ 7PM

Lestat was one of the most prominent bands in Cleveland’s ’90s dark music scene, then flourishing with a wave of industrial and goth bands. Lestat led the goth wave with their label Jevan Records, bringing other bands into the fold and to the attention of audiences. At the time, that music had a passionate underground audience, which embraced Lestat and spread its releases and its fame worldwide, making the band cult heroes.

The group had a good 12-year run from 1988-2000, releasing three albums: Theatre of the Vampires (1991), Grave Desires (1992) and Vision of Sorrows (1994).

Lestat regrouped in 2010 to release Arisen in 2012 and play occasional shows. But in October they announced they were hanging it up again, saying “It is with a heavy heart that we must announce that this second chapter of the band Lestat is coming to a close. We couldn’t be more proud of our accomplishments since reforming in 2010, and we’ve met so many great people over the past few years. There are many reasons for this decision, but they all boil down to our inability to sustain the band in the current DIY state of the music industry. There will be a farewell show in our hometown of Cleveland, Ohio in the near future. No one knows what the future holds for us musically, and our friendships will stay strong eternally. Thank you to all who supported us. We are forever grateful.”

The “near future” is now. The band will be playing that farewell show at the Agora Ballroom with Petals and Thorns, Man-009 and Genius Loci sharing the bill.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door.
