The Cleveland Orchestra’s Neighborhood Residency program has been a huge success, exposing the orchestra — and classical music — to brand new audiences. It kicked off in 2013 with a residency in the Gordon Square area, followed by ne this past spring in Lakewood.

The orchestra has announced that its third such residency will take place in the Broadway Slavic Village area around E. 55th in the spring of 2015. It will include a similar mix of small ensemble performances in non-traditional venues, educational programs, collaborations with neighborhoodarts groups, and other activities, culminating in a free, full-orchestra concert on Fri 4/10 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.

The orchestra’s press release says, “Broadway Slavic Village was chosen because it is a Cleveland neighborhood that symbolizes both the history and the future of Cleveland.  The Broadway Historic District at the intersection of E. 55th street has ethnic roots in the Czech and Polish communities with rich musical heritages.”

Details will be announced early next year.
