City Music Cleveland’s Christmas program is an interesting assortment of material. There’s some Mozart but it’s a somewhat offbeat Mozart — his bassoon concerto, with SUNY Fredonia professor of bassoon Laura Keopke coming in to play the solo part. There’s Mozart contemporary Antonio Sarrier’s Sinfonia in D. And there’s 20th-century Argentinian composer Ariel Ramirez’s best-known work, his 1964 Misa Criolla. Influenced by the loosening of the mass format following Vatican II, Ramirez wrote this mass in Spanish and drew on South American musical styles.

For that work, conductor Peter Bennett and the orchestra will be joined by soloists tenor Joshua Blue, baritone Michael Floriano, Raquel Pariaso on siku, an Andean panpipe, Francisco Lopez on charanga and bombo, and La Sagrada Familia Choir.

They’ll perform Wednesday at La Sagrada Familia, Thursday at Communion of Saints (St. Ann) in Cleveland Heights, Friday at St. Noel in Willoughby Hills, Saturday at the Shrine Church of St. Stanislaus, and Sunday at Lakewood Congregational Church.

As usual, all City Music Cleveland concerts are free.
