Celebrate a Celtic Christmas with Cherish the Ladies @ConservancyCVNP

CherishTheLadies

Sun 12/7 @ 7PM

In 29 years together, Cherish the Ladies has become an indelible presence in the Irish music scene, one of the few all-female bands in that scene.

Led since the beginning by flute/whistle player/vocalist Joanie Madden, the band has launched many talented women into careers of their own, with a roster that’s shifted frequently. The current quintet includes two New Yorkers of Irish descent (including Madden), a Bostonian also of Irish descent, an authentic Irishwoman and a Scot. Their performances feature a host of traditional Celtic instruments, exquisite harmonies and even Irish step dancing.

Now on tour with their Celtic Christmas show, the group has plenty of material to draw on: a pair of Christmas albums On Christmas Night and A Star in the East, and Christmas, the solo debut from guitar/banjo/mandolin player Mary Coogan. They’ll e at Happy Days Lodge at Cuyahoga Valley National Park as part of the Conservancy’s Heritage music series.

Tickets are $25, $23 for conservancy members, and $7.50 for children.
