Brent Kirby Headlines Peninsula’s Voices in the Valley

Fri 11/28 @ 7PM

Sometimes it seems like Brent Kirby never leaves the west side of Cleveland where he’s a staple in all the coolest clubs, but that’s not really true. Yes, he’s busy all the time with gigs like his weekly 3 x 10 songwriter nights at Brothers Lounge, solo and small combo appearances with various musician friends, rockin’ shows with the Jack Fords, his monthly Gram Parsons tribute project New Soft Shoe at the Happy Dog, playing drums for holiday ensemble the Ohio City Singers and … what else? Oh yeah, his new ensemble, Brent Kirby and the Luck. Whew!

But he will be taking that band south to Peninsula where it’ll be headlining a Voices in the Valley show at the G.A.R. Hall so you can hear what this gifted songwriter has been working on. Rebecca Wohlever, a relatively new name on the local music scene, will be on the bill as well. She’s no youngster; the mother of three took her time getting her feet wet in the music scene before releasing her first album All the Sycamores. She and Kirby are planning to do some tunes together and her rich, gilded folkie vocals should meld nicely with Kirby’s rawer edge.

Doors open at 6:30, music starts at 7. Admission is $7.
