Blind Boys of Alabama Celebrate Christmas at the Masonic Auditorium

BlindBoys

Tue 12/9 @ 8PM

The Blind Boys of Alabama formed at a school for blind African-American boys back in the mid ’40s when being blind and black were almost unfathomable twin handicaps. But they became a prominent vocal group on the black gospel circuit in the ’50s and, sticking it out — obviously with new members over the years — they eventually broke into the mainstream concert circuit, earning Grammies (six in all), slots of high-profile TV shows, and invitations to performance at the White House..

Christmas is a holiday tailor-made for a gospel group and the Blind Boys are touring in support of their new album Talkin’ Christmas. So their show at the Masonic Auditorium, also known as the Cleveland Performance Arts Center, will include favorite holiday tunes from that album as well as their previous Christmas album Go Tell It On the Mountain.

Tickets are $20-$75.
