The Good Goat Gallery recently celebrated their 2nd year anniversary in business. After a recent expansion and grand reopening in November, owner, artist and curator Nancy Cintron is psyched about the upcoming Frozen in Time show kicking off Sat 12/6. The gallery exhibit will include 20 artists, 18 of which are local and two from further away — California and France.

“This show is full of shadow boxes and diorama, which are my favorite forms of art,” says Nancy. “The whole idea of this show, Frozen in Time, is basically showing how artists, without realizing it, capture a moment in time through their artwork and it’s preserved forever.

“When we look back at some of our favorite artists in the past and present we see that they have, often unknowingly, captured time and immortalized a moment in their lives forever.  Their artwork often says ‘I was here and this is what it was like for me.’ Within an artist’s life, every work of art is it’s own little time capsule and I think when an artist is working they sometimes don’t realize it’s a little time capsule…these shadow boxes and dioramas will live on forever.”

A self-proclaimed goat lover at heart, Nancy named her gallery after these four-legged creatures because, “they’re silly animals that are real fun. When you interact with a goat or you just look at a goat, it just instantly makes you smile or laugh…and a lot of the art that comes into the gallery is like that. I house a lot of humored work and my work is mainly comedy…I do a lot of humorous art. The goat is a symbol of humor and goodness because they are good animals…even the naughty ones are good. I use the gallery for doing good things…benefits and helping people, so I use the goat as a symbol for good karma.”

This event is free and open to the public. It’s family friendly and appropriate for all ages. Everyone is welcome.

The gallery is located at 17012 Detroit Avenue in Lakewood, across from the Beck Center. Free parking is available behind the gallery building, along with street parking. Look for posted parking with signage displayed stating parking is for the event.

Even better news…all items will be for sale! The Side Quest (17900 Detroit Ave.) will host a Good Goat after party with food and drink specials, fun games and Vincent Price movies.

Frozen in Time will run through the holiday season. See the website for gallery hours and times.
