Cleveland State radio station WCSB 89.3 FM’s Halloween Masquerade Ball at Cleveland Public Theatre’s James Levin Theatre rolls into its sixth year with strong lineup of punk/underground talent, culled from several regional markets.

It’s headlined by Bloomington, Indiana punk rockers the Gizmos (pictured), an early punk rock band that made a brief splash from 1976-1978 before imploding. A bunch of the original members have gotten back together to relive the old days and they’ll be doing so in Cleveland. X—X, formed in the late ’70s by John Morton, the creative force behind the earlier and also very short-lived Cleveland underground band the Electric Eels, has been kicking around again lately, and they’ll be on the bill too.

They’ll be joined by a couple of more contemporary bands, Cleveland’s noisy All Dinosaurs, who kick up a storm of relentless rock, and Columbus/Cleveland band lo-fi rockers Counter Intuit, featuring singer Ron House of the legendary Columbus ensemble Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments.

WCBS DJs Jon C of Friday Night Rock Rotation, Himiko Go-Go from Pleasure Leftists, Mark from the Usual Decaying City, and Max Payola from Payday will be spinning tunes.

There will be beer for purchase, food trucks, bike parking and a costume contest.
