While the season for growing herbs and vegetables is (mostly) past, it’s definitely time to think about processing and storing the harvest. The Village Herb Shop in Chagrin Falls, under new ownership since early this year but still going strong after 20 years, can help you out with their Fall Harvest Class.
In fact, they’ll provide the harvest — cucumbers, beets and tomatoes from local farmers — so you can join in making refrigerator pickles, picked beets and fresh salsa, with lots of herbs to give them flavor, of course. The class will also make pumpkin pie spice and a poultry dry rub for your Thanksgiving turkey. Bring a cutting board and a good knife; they’ll have the ingredients and recipes on hand.
