So you spent all day at Peninsula’s Music on the Porches fest, and you still haven’t heard enough music? Snag a ticket to a powerhouse doubleheader at the G.A.R. Hall — two acts who put a contemporary spin on traditional American music.

Multi-instrumentalist Dom Flemons co-founded Carolina Chocolate Drops, a string-band revival group who rocketed to acclaim with their 2010 album Genuine Negro Jig, which won the Grammy for best traditional folk album. Flemons headed out on his own late last year and recently released his third solo album Prospect Hill, continuing to fuel his love for the sort of traditional, portable acoustic American folk and blues music played on front porches, juke joints, street corners, and union halls throughout the early-mid 20th century.

He’ll share the bill with Tennessee-based husband-and-wife duo Grace & Tony, who have been performing together since shortly after they met in 2010. He brings a background in punk, she’s steeping in gospel and bluegrass. Together they play what they call “punkgrass” — traditional acoustic American folk with a jolt of punk-rock energy. They’ve been hitting the road hard and while they’re out, they’ve been filming clips for an online video series, Greenroom Sessions, featuring informal backstage performances with other musicians shot on an iPhone.

Tickets are $20 in advance, $27 day of show. You can also reserve a table for four for $100.
