There’s little to add to what’s been said about Ronnie Spector, whose career as the quintessential tough-but-vulnerable ’60s girl group singer was launched by master producer Phil Spector, and whose life was derailed after she became his wife. The 2007 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee continued to go through some tough times following her divorce from Spector in the early ’70s.
Spector wrote a biography in 1989 called Be My Baby: How I Survived Mascara, Miniskirts, and Madness, detailing all the excitement behind making hits like “Walking in the Rain,” “Baby, I Love You,” and “Be My Baby,” and the drama that dogged her.
Her current tour, Beyond the Beehive, mines the rich lode of material that is her live, incorporating the hit songs into a production that features video, photos, and narration.
She’ll perform it at the Kent Stage.
