The Ohio State University Extension’s Summer Sprout program has helped fuel the explosive growth of community gardening in Cleveland, with gardens now numbering around 200.

Summer Sprout provides soil tests, educational programs and advice, as well as actual materials including seeds, starter plants, soil, humus and lumber to eligible gardeners.

If you want to find out more and learn whether you can participate, the OSU Extension is holding a series of informational programs at library branches around Cleveland.

They’ll be at the Carnegie West Library on Fulton Road on Thu 9/11; at the Main Library on Sat 9/13; at the Fleet Library in Slavic Village on Mon 9/15; at the Mt. Pleasant Library on Tue 9/16; at the Langston Hughes Library in Glenville on Sat 9/20 and at the Rockport Library on W. 140th on Sat 9/20.

For more information call Erin Richardson at 216.429.8200 x246 or go to to their website.
