Local Trio Filmstrip Celebrates CD Re-Release @BeachlandCle

Filmstrip

Fri 9/26 @ 8:30PM

Guitarist/vocalist Dave Taha, bassist/vocalist Matt Taha, and drummer Nick Riley have known each other since junior high school and played together in various band configurations. But they got together as Filmstrip in 2009. The band’s shifting, evolving post-punk sound incorporates elements of many of the most significant, noisier rockers of the last couple of decades, making it hard to pin down.

They released their debut, Everything Can Change, in 2010, followed by Moments of Matter in 2012. Now Exit Stencil Records, the formerly Cleveland-based label that’s relocated to New York, is giving Moments of Matter a national release.

That’s happening in November. But meanwhile, they’re giving their hometown friends an advance listen, with a release show at the Beachland Tavern. They’ll be joined by Field Trip, Blaka Watra,The Green Escalators, and DJ Fred Gunn spinning what they describe as “90s indie slacker rock” between sets.

They’ll have several formats available, included with admission. If you want a digital copy, you pay $5; if you want a CD, that’s $10. A vinyl album will cost you $15.
