There’ll some rockin’ and groovin’ and vibin’ at the Grog Shop when Cleveland’s Tropidelic and Uptowne Buddha are joined by SassafraZ out of Columbus and Anapolis’ Bumpin’ Uglies.
Clevelanders are already familiar with Tropidelic, who have been plying their funk- and rock-infused reggae around these parts for better than seven years, and Uptowne Buddha, whose musical fusion involves a generous-sized live take on R&B-leaning hip hop.
And they’re getting to know SassafraZ (pictured) whose light-footed blend of horn-driven funk, soul, hop hop, and pop was showcased on their EP Move Your Body released earlier this year. The seven-member band is relatively new — they played their first show less than three years ago. But they’re really starting to get around the region.
Bumpin’ Uglies are a Maryland trio who decsribe their music as “white boy reggae.” All four bands have a big toe dipped deep into the jam band circuit, so you know what kind of groovin’ and vibin’ you’ll be doing.
