Akron’s Porch Rockr Back at Highland Square for the Third Year

Sat 9/20 @ 10AM-8PM

Cleveland started its Larchmere Porch Fest six years ago, inspired by a similar even in Ithaca, New York. And Akron started its Highland Square Porch Rockr Festival two years ago, encouraged by the rapid growth of the Larchmere festival.

It’s about to unleash its third edition of the event, which takes place in tandem with the Highland Square Neighborhood Association. Dozens of bands, mostly from the Akron area, will play on various porches on the streets surrounding Highland Square.

While there are a few big names, such as soul-rockers Winslow (pictured) and quirky acoustic punk duo ShiSho, most of the bands are unknown to us, which is always an adventure. You know there’s going to be some winners there.

And it’s free so you’ve got nothing to lose and an afternoon to spend hanging out, meeting people, eating food, visiting vendors, and catching music of all types — jazz, blues, country, Americana, folk, bluegrass, soul, punk, jam, psychedelia, and good old rock & roll.
