Battlefield Band Bring Scottish Music Traditions to Happy Days Lodge

Wed 10/2 @ 7:30PM

While Irish music has earned widespread exposure and popularity, the Battlefield Band has been carrying the banner for its Celtic cousin, Scottish music.

The group was formed in 1969 by four musicians in the Glasgow area who had a strong interest in preserving their natïve musical traditions and finding a new audience for them by making them palatable to contemporary listeners.

The Battlefield Band has become more about the concept than the players, who have changed over the years. But you’ll always hear four guys playing both traditional and original pieces, adding bagpipes to fiddle, flute, guitar, bodhran, and keyboards to create a distinctive sound that updates traditional music for modern ears.

They’ll be at the Happy Days Lodge at Cuyahoga Valley National Park as park of its Heritage concert series. Tickets are $17, or $12 for CVNP Conservancy members. It’s expected to sell out, so reserve your tickets now.
