Celebrate Earth Day in Downtown Kent or Summit Metroparks Twinsburg

Sat 4/21

Well, Cleveland’s Earth Day Coalition has dissolved and its big annual Earthfest is no more. But there are still plenty of ways to celebrate such as Party for the Planet at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.

Here are a couple more. Head down to Kent for the Who’s Your Mama Earth Day Festival Block Party in downtown Kent. From 11am-4pm there will be a host of activities for all ages, centered around four themes: alternative energy, sustainable agriculture, conservation and multimedia environmental education including dance, music, film and art.

There’ll be eco vendors, displays, dance and music performances and a parade kicking of from the Kent Stage at 2:30pm, led by the Breakneck Alchemists Costumed Bicycle Parade. There’ll be lots of contributions from local school kids too, ranging from the Kent Roosevelt High School Jazz Band to 3rd graders reading “From the Tree” poetry.

Summit Metro Parks is sponsoring a lower-key Earth Day celebration at its Liberty Park/Ledges area in Twinsburg. There will be plenty to do however including guided hikes, displays and live music from noon-4pm.
