Arise

Not that they aren’t all great, but what a fabulous season is turning up in the 216 and surrounding burgs. This week, East meets West for a collection of cool festivals. Emerging Chefs go sushi crazy. Tremont homes fling open their doors. Ohio wines take off as we drop in on Jilbert Winery in Valley City and cover a new book on Lake Erie wineries. And for those graduating (or knowing someone who is), our CareerTOOLBOX offers advice on moving up in the world. A new contributor schools us on returning to Cleveland. And we say goodbye to Cleveland International’s Steve Popovich, one of the many who’ve helped this region rise up. –Thomas Mulready

Cleveland’s Chief of Police, Michael McGrath, is perhaps one of the finest men to ever wear a badge… in ours or any other city in this country. His dedication to duty is beyond reproach… that’s why it’s so difficult for someone like me, who is a big fan of this fine officer, to see him placed between such a big rock and an extremely hard place.
