Funk a Deli, Formerly Yiddishe Cup, Shows Off Its Soul/Klezmer Mix at the BOP STOP

Sat 3/3 @ 8PM

For three decades, Yiddish Cup, led by clarinet/sax player Bert Stratton, has been entertaining local and regional audiences (and occasionally an even more far-flung one) with its lively assortment of klezmer and other traditional Yiddish tunes.

But in recent years, the group has added some musicians who clearly don’t come from Yiddish roots but rather take their influences from R&B performers such as Tina Turner and Gladys Knight.

So now the band has changed its name and transformed into Funk a Deli, and infused its music with a vibe that blends the traditions. So expect to here some slightly different takes on rock and soul classics, along with those Yiddish favorites when the band appears under its new name at the BOP STOP. As always, be ready to hit the dance floor.

Tickets are $20.
