Cleveland Pops Orchestra Pays Tribute to New Orleans Jazz at Severance Hall

Fri 4/6 @ 8PM

Jazz trumpeter Byron Stripling has played with the Count Basie Orchestra, the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins, Lionel Hampton, Gerry Mulligan and Woody Herman, among many others. He’s also performed with many orchestras and starred in the musical Satchmo about the life of Louis Armstrong.

He’ll be doing both those things when he joins the Cleveland Pops Orchestra onstage at Severance Hall for his third performance with them in “Mardi Gras and All That Jazz.” Together they’ll pay tribute to the music of Armstrong and early New Orleans-style jazz with numbers like “What a Wonderful World,” “Basin Street Blues” and of course a finale of “When The Saints Go Marchin’ In.”

Tickets start at $29. Call the Severance Hall box office for tickets at 216-231-1111.
