Cleveland baroque ensemble Les Delices will be joined by a pair of special guests for its next concert program, “Dido’s Lament.” Irish harpist Maria Christina Cleary and soprano Clara Rottsolk will be featured at the two concerts, centering around Dido, queen of Carthage who was deserted by Aeneas in Greek legend.

The music will explore her emotions from three perspectives, including excerpts from Francesco Cavalli’s opera Didone, Michel Pignolet de Montéclair’s La Mort de Didon and the lament “When I am laid in earth” from Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas.

The concerts will conclude with harp solos and improvisations by Cleary, and chamber music by Purcell.

They’ll perform Saturday at Lakewood Congregational Church and Sunday at Plymouth Churchin Shaker Heights. Tickets are $25-$35.
