Americana Folk Singer Diana Jones Stops by Oberlin’s Riverdog Gallery

Sat 4/21 @ 7:30PM

Folksinger Diana Jones has won acclaim for her Southern-tinged music that has caused her to be compared to Johnny Cash, an early favorite of hers. In her bio, she says, “My brother had Johnny Cash’s live At Folsom Prison album, and I stole it from his room.”

She released her first record in 1997, but she really began her music career in earnest with My Remembrance of You in 2006, written after a period away from music to reflect and find her direction following the death of her musician grandfather who was a huge influence on her. That album brought her wider attention in the folk scene and landed her tours with artists like Richard Thompson, Mary Gauthier, Steve Earle, Ralph Stanley and Janis Ian.

She’ll be making her way to Oberlin’s Riverdog Retreat where she’ll play in the gallery. She’ll be joined by Lorain County homegirl Emily Keener, an early-starting veteran of the local singer-songwriter scene who’s been around 5-6 years and is still in her teens.

Tickets are $17 at the door and there will be free snacks, although you are welcome to bring your own food and drink. You can reserve your spot here.
