Mon 5/21 @ 7PM

Cleveland’s Contemporary Youth Orchestra (CYO) gives talented teens a different experience than playing in the typical youth classical ensemble such as the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra.

Instead, the 23-year-old group performs newly commissioned works giving kids from schools all over northeast Ohio a chance to work directly with composers. It’s also known for its collaborative performances with pop stars pop stars such as Styx, Pat Benatar, Graham Nash, Bootsy Collins and Melissa Etheridge, providing orchestral arrangements of some of their material.

For its upcoming show, it will be performing with Kenny Loggins, whose hits spanned the ’70s with Loggins & Messina through the mid ’90s, including the 1978 top 10 duet “Whenever I Call You Friend” with Stevie Nicks and the number one hit “Footloose” in 1984.

The concert takes place at Severance Hall where CYO director Liza Grossman conducts. Tickets are $31-$98.
