It’s been a year and a half since the unexpected death of local heavy metaller, Jim Konya. The proud Parma resident played with such bands as Nunslaughter and Schnauzer, and was well known for his enthusiasm and his eagerness to share his musical enthusiasms with anyone who crossed his path. His death of a stroke at the age of 44 came as a shock to the entire metal community.
Last year, the Agora hosted the first Konyafest to honor his memory, and now they’re hosting the 2nd annual event, featuring a packed lineup of local metal bands. They include Nunslaughter, Fuck You Pay Me, Dead of Night/From the Depths combo set, Sathanas, Faithxtractor, Drogheda and Mini Schnauzer.
Suggested donation is $10. Proceeds benefit the James P. Konya Scholarship Fund at Kent State University.
