Contrapunctus Sings Sacred Marian Music at Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist

Fri 3/2 @ 7:30

Contrapunctus Early Music is a northeast Ohio-based group that specializes in music for high voices — sopranos, altos and countertenors — led by musical director David Acres and executive director Dr. Judith Overcash Acres.

The ensemble returns to the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, the seat of the Cleveland Catholic diocese, for another concert that will feature Marian music by composers ranging from 12th century abbess Hildegard von Bingen to 39-year-old Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo. It will also include pieces by Gabriel Faure, Gustav Holst, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Giuseppe Tatini, Mozart and Brahms, as well as the world premiere of a new work by contemporary British church music composer Graham Keitch.

The concert is free; donations will be accepted.
