Explore the Future of Artificial Intelligence at Science Cafe at the Music Box

Mon 2/12 @ 7PM

The idea of artificial intelligence is both alluring and scary. What can it do? Will it replace humans?

Cutting-edge thinkers like Elon Musk and Stephen Hawking have warned of its dangers, and Vladimir Putin has said, “Artificial intelligence is the future, not only for Russia, but for all humankind. It comes with colossal opportunities, but also threats that are difficult to predict. Whoever becomes the leader in this sphere will become the ruler of the world.” (And yet he is focusing on controlling a sphere of little intelligence, aka Donald Trump, in his attempt to rule the world).

The topic of artificial intelligence, or A.I., will be addressed by Dr. Wyatt Newman, a professor of electrical engineering and computer science at Case Western Reserve’s School of Engineering, at the monthly Science Café at the Music Box Supper Club.

He’ll talk about the background of a new version of A.I. called Deep Learning, exploring its roots in neuroscience and looking at what is being discovered today.

Science Café is free. Doors open at 5:30, presentation is at 7. A full menu and bar are available.
