Artist Yoko Inoue discusses her installation piece, “Tea Taste Democracy & Upside Down Objects” at SPACES Gallery. This piece examines Japanese cultural identity through the imported kitsch figurines that were stamped “Made in Occupied Japan” and widely marketed to the middle class in America as home décor objects.
This artist talk includes a roundtable discussion including Yoko Inoue, Gina DeSantis, Kolé Robinson Brooks, Laila Voss, Kristen Cliffel, and students from the Cleveland Institute of Art ceramics department. It’s free.
