River Day Makes the Cuyahoga River Great Again

Sat 5/19 @ 8AM-5PM

Doing that “drain the swamp” thing in Washington D.C. doesn’t seem to be working well, and as for cleaning up corruption in Hollywood, forget it. Let’s talk attainable goals. Like the annual RiverDay, a daylong clean-up effort along the Cuyahoga River and its tributaries and associated wetlands.

Stretches of the Cuyahoga River, as far south as Akron and Portage County, will be cleaned by volunteer crews. Other activities are more educational and celebratory. Be in Oakwood Village or Brecksville for native tree-planting. Hike together at Parma’s new indoor/outdoor Watershed Stewardship Center. Go on a paddling excursion with Burning River Adventures in Cuyahoga Falls or Camp Hi in Hiram.

Most of the activities are free or carry a small charge. Some require reservations. Find a full event listing here.
