Artists Archives Honors Late Ceramicist/Painter/ Printmaker Marvin Smith With Pop-Up Show

Fri 5/11 @ 6-9PM

The Artists Archives of the Western Reserve is presenting a short-run pop-up show and art sale called Marvin Smith: Renaissance Man, featuring the prints, paintings and ceramics of Smith, a 1958 graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art and an Archived Artist at AAWR.

The late artist worked for American Greetings for three decades, while also teaching at CIA and the former Cooper School of Art, and maintaining a bust career as a practicing art, doing many commissioned site-specific ceramic sculptures, while also doing painting and printmaking. The show was put together by Kelly Pontoni, who met the artist’s daughter and had the chance to see the enormous collection of work he left to her.

The show opens with a reception Fri 5/11 and runs through Sat 5/19. A portion of show sales will fund a Marvin Smith scholarship at CIA.
