“No SHOW Without the BIZ!” is a workshop for actors featuring two of the most gifted and successful performers in town, Jeffrey Grover and Peter Lawson Jones, and moderated by one of the city’s most in-demand directors Terrence Spivey.

Both Glover and Jones are members of Actors Equity and the Screen Actors Guild and have amassed long lists of both film and stage credits. Glover has appeared in films such as My Blind Brother, The Kings of Summer and Compliance, with four 2018 film roles set for release. Locally, he’s appeared in productions of Angels in American, Death and the Maiden, God of Carnage and Annapurna. He’s also a partner in g2h films, currently in pre-production for its fourth film.

Peter Lawson Jones returned to his first love of theater after a career in law and politics. He has appeared in more than 20 films, and on numerous local stages such as Karamu, Ensemble and currently at Cleveland Public Theatre in its production of Br’er Cotton. He has also been branching out into playwriting and is co-executive producer of the documentary Fatherhood 101, promoting a cause that has long been close to his heart.

Moderator Spivey, who was artistic director at Karamu for 12 years, recently founded his own company Powerful Long Ladder at Holy Trinity Cultural Center and has freelanced all over town since leaving Karamu in 2016, directing for many of the area’s most exciting theaters. He’s also the artistic associate at Shore Cultural Center in Euclid where the workshop takes place. They’ll offer useful tips for both beginning and veteran actors.

Cost is $25. Go here to register.
