Philippe LeJeune Trio Plays Boogie-Woogie Blues and Jazz at the BOP STOP

Fri 4/6 @ 8PM

French pianist Philippe LeJeune was inspired to leave classical music after hearing a concert in 1968 by Memphis Slim. He taught himself boogie woogie blues and never looked back. Since then he has performed jazz with a soulful blues influence, with tunes by the likes of Duke Ellington, Milt Jackson and Horace Silver in his repertoire.

Six of his albums have been released in the U.S. and he has performed at numerous important jazz festivals in the U.S., Europe and Africa. He’ll be back in town at the BOP STOP this week, with an ensemble that includes local players, bassist George Lee and drummer Sunceray Tabler.

Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door. Stick around for the monthly jazz jam session afterwards, starting at 11pm.
