Organist David Higgs Plays at Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist

David Higgs, who is chair of the organ department at the prestigious Eastman School of Music, is known as one of the country’s premiere organists.

Originally from New York, he was director of music and organist at Park Avenue Christian Church and associate organist of the Riverside Church. Later he moved to San Francisco where he was director of music and organist at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Berkeley, director of church music studies at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley, and organist/choir director at Temple Emanu-El in San Francisco. He has taught at Eastman School since 1992 while performing across the country and internationally.

Higgs will be in Cleveland for a free concert at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist where he’ll perform music by Franz Liszt, Percy Whitlock, Sigfrid Karg-Elert, Marcel Dupré, David Conte, William Albright and Felix Mendelssohn.

There’s free parking in the Cathedral garage off Rockwell.
