North Olmsted’s Great Northern Mall Brings Dogged Chinese Lunar New Year Celebration

No, it’s not “down dog” pose in yoga, another ancient Eastern practice, but actually the Year of the Earth Dog in Chinese Lunar New Year terms, which means a fun dragon dance!

It all happens when the OCA Greater Cleveland Chapter of Dragon Dance winds its way around the Great Northern Mall’s food court.

According to OCA’s website, and the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of the Earth Dog — those born 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006 and 2018 — are inherently attentive, persistent, and now experiencing good fortune and wealth.

Well, that explains this writer’s 1961 Year of the Ox, which always has me pulling more than my own weight, just like fellow Class of ’61 Obama.
