Karamu Mounts Comedy About a Black Girl’s Quest for God

Thu 3/22-Sun 4/15

Karamu describes their next theater production The Adventures of the Black Girl and Her Search for God as “a side-splitting comedy [which] follows a young African girl who is abandoned by a white missionary for asking too many questions about God.”

It’s based on a satirical short story of the same name, written by British author George Bernard Shaw in 1932, adapted for the stage by Canadian actress/playwright Lisa Codrington.

The play follows the girl’s journey as she sets out in search of God and meets people who have differing ideas. The Karamu production is directed by Nina Domingue. It runs through Sun 4/15. Tickets are $15-$37.
