Global Percussionist Jamey Haddad Plays Nighttown with His International All Stars

Wed 3/28 @ 7PM

Cleveland-born and -raised jazz/global music percussionist Jamey Haddad lived in New York for nearly 25 years, recording, touring (most notably with Paul Simon, with whom he still performs) and teaching at Boston’s acclaimed Berklee College of Music.

Then in 2004, his contacts cemented and workflow guaranteed, he moved back to his hometown, looking for a more livable lifestyle where he didn’t have to carry drums up to a New York apartment after every show. And he claims to have more than 1,000 drums and other instruments in his Oberlin studio!

He’s continued his longtime exploration of percussion styles from around the world, which includes creating his own instruments, from his Oberlin base. So much the better for Cleveland music fans, who have more opportunities to hear him play, when he’s not out on the road with Simon.

He’s returning to Nighttown this week with the Jamey Haddad International All-Stars, featuring pianist Michael Orenstein, acoustic bassist Emma Adomeit, sax player Birsa Chatterjee and percussionist Patrick Graney, along with special guest, accordionist Julien Labro.

Tickets are $20.
