Eat Like a Slumdog Millionaire, Then Watch it in Shaker Square

Mon 3/12 @ 6PM

In a synergy of food, film and fire, the restaurant of that same name (fire, we mean) is partnering with their neighbor, the Cleveland Cinemas at Shaker Square, for a showing of the 2008 Best Picture Oscar winner Slumdog Millionaire.

Director Danny Boyle’s cross-cultural drama was a surprise hit, with no big-name stars recognizable to most mainstream-western audiences and distributor problems that made it almost go direct-to-DVD. The plot has a poor boy from the slums of Mumbai becoming a phenomenon on an Indian TV quiz show (closely resembling Who Wants to be a Millionaire), only to have to answer accusations of cheating.

The restaurant sets the mood with a pre-movie dinner of authentic-style Indian food (including plentiful vegetarian/vegan options), culturally appropriate to Boyle’s milieu.

The dinner starts at 6pm, the movie at 7. The cost for the entire night is $40 (know that the advance reservations are non-refundable).
