The Bennewitz Quartet was formed at Prague’s Academy of Performing Arts in 1988 and named after influential 19th/early 20th century Czech violinist/conductor Antonin Bennewitz. They’ve toured all over the world, sharing the rich legacy of Czech music.

They’ll be bringing some of that legacy to West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church when they perform there this week for the Rocky River Chamber Music Society. The program includes Leoš Janáček’s String Quartet No. 2 (“Intimate Letters”), Bedrich Smetana’s String Quartet No.1 in E minor and Antonin Dvorák’s String Quartet No. 13 in G major.

As always, the Monday night concerts are free.
