The Jamaican-born, Brooklyn-based photojournalist Ruddy Roye is known for his Instagram-based work that is underpinned by his activism as he explores the lives of black people in America in powerful location portraits he’s captured in his travels. He is a regular contribute to Time Magazine, the New York Times and National Geographic.
Roye has been in Cleveland as part of an Ohio Arts Council grant, teaching film photography to young people, holding workshops and critiques. He’ll conclude his visit with a free public artist talk at the Cleveland Print Room to talk about his work and the people he encounters who provide his subject matter.
