Akron Symphony’s Gospel Meets Symphony Celebrates Its 25th Year at E.J. Thomas Hall

Sat 2/24 @ 7:30PM

Gospel Meets Symphony is one of the Akron Symphony Orchestra’s most eagerly anticipated concerts of the year. That’s why it’s celebrating its 25th year this year at E.J. Thomas Hall.

Joining the orchestra for an evening of inspirational music, including favorites from past concerts as far back as the initial concert in 1994, is a choir of some 200 volunteer community vocalists representing church choirs all over the Akron area. They’re led by Akron Symphony music director Christmas Wilkins and choirmaster Jennifer Mekel Jones.

Following the concert there will be 25th anniversary tribute celebration in the E.J. Thomas lobby with hors d’oeuvres, desserts and a cash bar, and Wilkins, Jones and the performers sharing their memories of past concerts. Concert tickets start at $25; tickets to the tribute, purchased separately, are $20.
