Springsteen Tribute Band Brings on the Ladies for “She’s the Boss” at the Music Box

Fri 1/12 @ 8PM

Bruce Springsteen has been a Cleveland favorite since the early ’70s, when WMMS-FM was one of the first stations in the country to give a lot of attention to his first two, pre-Born to Run albums and saturation airplay to that breakthrough album, released in 1975. Sellout shows were a given here, long before the rest of the country caught on.

So it’s no surprise that Springsteen tribute bands like Swamps of Jersey ply the local clubs with regularity. If Springsteen is your main man, they provide a reliably entertaining night out.

But for their upcoming show at the Music Box Supper Club, dubbed “She’s the Boss,” they’re trying something a little different. For this show the band will be joined by a small, diverse group of talented local women singers to offer a different perspective on some of those muscular, quintessentially masculine tunes.

They include the versatile Sheela Das, who performs everything from old-time music to jazz to rock and is known around town for her you-can-all-join-in ukulele classes; sultry jazz/pop singer Nancy Redd; Lori Matusz who sings with local dance/classic rock bands; and Evie Morris who performs folk, pop and old-time music with her husband as Eve ’n’ Stephen.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door.
