Singer/Songwriter Alexis Antes Returns to the Music Box with Some Old Friends

Thu 2/1 @ 7:30PM

Last July, the Cleveland music scene welcomed back to the fold a talented performer who had been missing in action too long.

Alexis Antes, singer/guitarist for the enormously popular Cleveland ’90s folk rock group Odd Girl Out, had put out a pair of powerful solo albums in 1998 and 2003 and performed her outstanding original music extensively around the area before dropping off the radar for almost a decade and a half.

In that time, she worked a day job, moved around the region, and made money as a cover act in clubs, wineries and restaurants. She felt she needed time to recharge her fountain of inspiration.

Fully re-energized, she dropped 13 last summer, featuring ten new original songs, a cover of Stevie Nicks’ “Landslide,” and a song apiece by each of her musician parents. She even brought back fellow Odd Girl Out member Victoria Fliegel, who had retired from music completely following the short-lived VA Dare with Antes, to play some guitar. And she sold out her CD release show at the Music Box Supper Club last July.

If you missed that show, you will certainly want to catch her when she returns to the Music Box this week. Fliegel will again join her, as will the former OGO rhythm section of bassist Chris DeHaas and drummer Brian Bretton, along with singer Judy Haines. They’ll be pulling out some old VA Dare and Odd Girl Out tunes to augment Antes’ repertoire.

Admission is $8.
